How to Measure Your PD

Buying glasses online? You will need your PD (Pupillary Distance). It is the distance between the centers of your pupils in millimeters. An accurate PD ensures your prescription lenses align perfectly with your eyes for clear, comfortable vision.

You don't need a trip to the eye doctor. Grab a millimeter ruler and a mirror, and follow these 3 simple steps:

  • Step 1: Get in Position Stand about 8 inches (20 cm) away from a mirror. Keep your head straight and look directly at yourself.

  • Step 2: Align the Zero Close your right eye. Hold the ruler flat against your brow and align the 0 mm mark exactly with the center of your left pupil.

  • Step 3: Read the Measurement Keep the ruler perfectly still. Open your right eye (and close your left eye). Read the millimeter line that lines up directly over the center of your right pupil.

That’s your PD! (Note: The average adult PD falls between 54mm and 74mm).
